Six Galician companies are committed to innovation in water purification

The TRIHSENS project, framed in the CONECTAPEME 2018 program, is an example of innovation, as well as cooperation between small and large companies, as indicated by the partners that make up the consortium: Roca Roibás, Syspro, Ayco, Viaqua, AIMEN y Cetaqua.

The objective of this innovation project is to improve the current purification systems, towards an increasingly efficient management, which allows the development of a comprehensive solution for real-time monitoring of water for human consumption. This goal is a commitment to the protection and preservation of this natural resource.

After the first months of the project, the effectiveness of the use of fluorescence sensors - based on an LED technology -, which represent an advance in the on-site monitoring of the purification process, has been corroborated. This new system guarantees efficient management and ensures the exhaustive control of drinking water that is distributed in the city of Santiago de Compostela.

This innovative technology, which will be installed soon in the Drinking Water Treatment Station (ETAP) of the Tambre, is based on artificial neural networks, which act as an extra prediction and protection system in the process of water purification.

TRIHSENS promotes the change promoted by the new European policies by developing a technology focused on efficient preventive management; while continuing to foster collaboration, through support for research, development and innovation projects.

Under this premise, in 2018 the development of this project began, which has the support of the Xunta de Galicia through the Galician Innovation Axencia (GAIN) and the Ministry of Economy, Emprego and Industry, co-financed by Funds FEDER.
